Safety Planning

‘Safety Planning’ is the term most commonly used to describe plans a person can take to leave or stay safe from a controlling or violent intimate partner.  Any of our PDAN network members can help people with safety planning, but there are also checklists and other online resources and Apps that can help you get started.

Kawartha Sexual Assault Centre

Serving: Those 16+ affected by sexual violence and harm.

Offers services for anyone affected by sexual assault or gender- based violence or harm.

Services: counselling, safety planning, group workshops, advocacy, accompaniment services, crisis support, peer supports, referrals and more.


Peterborough Regional Health Centre – Sexual Assault Domestic Violence Program

Serving: Anyone who has experienced or is at risk for gender-based violence.

Provides supportive 1:1 trauma-informed care to individuals who have experienced sexual assault and/or abuse by an intimate partner. Our team of specially trained nurses are available 24 hours a day through the Emergency Department at Peterborough Regional Health Centre (PRHC) for anyone who has recently been sexually assaulted or assaulted by an intimate partner or in the case where the assault took place more than two weeks ago, we can schedule a visit in our clinic.
