Counselling Groups
Group Counselling is a type of counselling that involves bringing a group of people with similar experiences together. We offer a number of different group sessions led by our experienced counsellors. To find out more about any session or to register, please call us 705-743-2272 or 1-800-274-1611 ext 308.
Peaceful Families
A group for Women and Children (ages 5-15) who have witnessed or experienced violence in the home. For in-person sessions, both the women and children will attend our 540 George St location at the same time. The women’s group will be in one meeting space and the children’s groups will be divided by age in two other adjacent meeting spaces. Facilitated by our professional counselling team, the content will be geared to the children’s ages and each group session will run at the same time.
The current session will be held on July 19 & 20, 2022. To view the flyer for this session, please click on the link below.
Peaceful Families July 2022Healing from Within
A four-week support group for adult male survivors of sexual harm. That harm can be historical (i.e. experienced during childhood) or recent. Sessions are once a week for two hours each. Due to the nature of the group, we ask that all participants commit to attending each of the sessions. This program was previously delivered through the John Howard Society in Peterborough and moved to CCRC in the spring of 2022.
Our next session will be held in the Fall of 2022 (dates TBA).
Redefining Me
For adult women of any age who have experienced Domestic Violence and/or Sexual Violence and are looking to rebuild or enhance their self-esteem. Empowering participants to revise their current self-image, develop greater self-awareness and self-compassion, Redefining Me is a way for a woman to reclaim who she is, who she wants to be and that she deserves to have positive relationships in her life.
The group runs for two hours, once a week for 10 weeks. Due to the nature of these sessions, we ask that participants commit to attending all 10 sessions upon registration.
Next session TBA.
Caring for the Caregiver
Open to adults caring for family/friends with physical and/or mental health challenges, this group is a safe space to discuss caregiving with other caregivers. While caregiving is a wonderful way to care for a loved one, it can be difficult. This group will help participants develop a caregiving plan with realistic goals and options, while also providing a forum to talk about grief, guilt and self-care. This group runs for 1.5 hours per week for eight weeks and participants are encouraged to attend all eight sessions.
Next Session dates TBA
Choices and Changes
A safe space for women to learn how to change patterns of choosing and relating with intimate partners. In this group, participants will learn about healthy and unhealthy relationships, setting boundaries, self-care and self-esteem.
This group is two hours per week for 10 weeks.
Next Session dates TBA
