Juke Box Mania 2012 Raised Almost $12,000 to Prevent Homelessness

May 4th, 2012

Community Counselling and Resource Centre (CCRC) extends heartfelt thanks to everyone who helped Juke Box Mania 2012 raise almost $12,000 to help prevent homelessness on April 27, 2012.

Livelier than ever, a sold out crowd of almost 400 people joined in the 7th annual event at the Trentwinds, dancing in the aisles, enjoying great food and music and a flashy costume contest as they competed in a fun “name that tune game” and bid on an array of over 70 silent auction items. The close to $12,000 raised will support CCRC’s Housing Resource Centre in their work to prevent homelessness. Hosts - Catherine Hanrahan and Carey Walker from the WOLF/KRUZ - kept everyone hopping and bopping to tunes from all eras.

“This was the liveliest Juke Box Mania event yet,” states Emmet Connolly, Juke Box Committee Chair and President of the Board of CCRC. “The sold out crowd arrived ready to enjoy the evening and to contribute to CCRC.  It takes the entire community to make this event a success and we are grateful for all who attended as well for the generous sponsors and donors and the many energetic volunteers who stepped up to help.”

The night featured great music, entertainment, a costume contest, raffles and a silent auction, all to raise money to prevent homelessness. In the excitement of the evening and with software challenges tallying game results, the list of winners announced was not fully accurate. This has since been corrected and CCRC is pleased to announce that the winning teams were:

            10th Place:         Dyssco Maniacs; Janice Green; The Monotones;

The prize for the best costume went to Rhonda Dickie’s “The Jewell Tones.” A new prize, for the table that purchased the most silent auction items went to Bob Campbell, Investors Group. This year’s event had a special team from the WOLF/KRUZ playing but not officially competing in the game. This team brought excitement to the event, and as final scores were tallied, they tied with the team placing third in the game.
