MPP Jeff Leal announced ongoing funding for the provincial Rent Bank at the Housing Resource Centre yesterday. Peterborough will receive $52,175 this year as part of the $5 million going to Rent Bank programs across the province.
Community Counselling and Resource Centre has operated the Rent Bank program in the Peterborough area since the fund's inception in 2004. The program helped 114 households last year with assistance of about $700 per case on average.
“We’ve been out of funds at the Rent Bank for almost three months so having access to these funds will be very important for a number of clients who come to the Housing Resource Centre,” she said.
