Credit Counselling Services
Welcome to Credit Counselling Services of Peterborough, a program of CCRC. For over 35 years our trained credit counsellors have helped people solve their money management and debt problems.
- Are you living paycheque to paycheque?
- Are collectors calling you at home or work?
- Do you feel stress because of money or debt problems?
You are not alone. We serve over 2,000 individuals and families each year who are having money or debt problems. We give them the information, tools and skills they need to be able to regain control of their personal finances. We can help you turn things around as well.
Our services are professional and confidential. We are part of a not-for-profit, charitable agency, offering free or low cost services. We are a United Way Member Agency and an accredited member of the Ontario Association of Credit Counselling Services.
We offer telephone advice and face-to-face money management and debt counselling in Peterborough, Haliburton, Kawartha Lakes and Northumberland Counties. Our services include:
Budgeting and money management counselling
We provide information on money management, debt reduction options, and collection agency practices.
Preventative Education
We promote the wise use of credit and money management skills on an individual, family and community basis. Workshops are available by request to workplaces and community groups.
Debt repayment programs
We may be able to get your payments lowered based on your ability to pay, and have your interest charges substantially reduced. People in our debt repayment program typically pay off their debts in about four years. This program is an alternative to bankruptcy and helps reduce stress by stopping collection calls and worries of legal action.
Bankruptcy counselling
We provide counselling to individuals who have filed for bankruptcy, as required by the Bankruptcy Act.
Get help to control your debt so it doesn’t control you. To book a free and confidential appointment with one of our counsellors, call (705) 742-1351, between 9:00 am and 4:30 pm, Monday to Friday.
